We provide daily wrap-around provision for those children attending Nursery in any school, and for those children staying on after Playgroup. Our wrap around sessions provide an excellent transition into full time education, whilst continuing to build friendships in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Every parent will have access to see what their child gets up to via a Seesaw App and Facebook platforms, with relevant permissions. Wrap around is for children aged 2 years 6 months +. Children need to bring a packed lunch or can order school meals and will need a drinks bottle. Drinks and snacks are provided at no extra cost. We provide both funded and chargeable places.
Opening Times – Monday to Friday term time:
PM Wrap around: 11:30-15:10 for Playgroup children aged 2 yrs 6 mnths+ Nursery pupils
All Day Wrap around: 9:00am – 15:10 for Playgroup children aged 2yrs 6mnths +

Children finishing Nursery at 11.30 will be brought over to Cabin by school staff, they will have a short free play before their lunch at around 12pm. Children are encouraged to sit for the duration of their meal to enjoy a lovely social occasion, with the opportunity for children to chat about their likes, dislikes and their day so far. Following lunch, children enjoy an organised activity and the opportunity for free play. At 2.15 children are offered a snack of various fruits, milk or water, which they choose independently themselves, this encourages them to take turns, share and develop fine motor skills by using food tongs and pouring their own drinks.
We follow the NHS and Welsh Government-backed accreditation scheme ‘Tiny Tums’ which is a best practice award given to early years childcare providers that provide healthy, balanced food and drink for children aged 0-4. As an accredited setting we have received training from public health dietitian’s and strictly follow government nutrition guidelines.
During these sessions children are given the opportunities to freely choose their play and learning, the choices include home corner area, pets corner, small world play, sand and water, playdough, loose parts, lots of craft resources plus many more. We offer free flow throughout to allow the children choose where they play.
Each term the staff plan activities around a topic of their choice, which will encourage the children to learn and develop in different areas. These can include topics such as ‘All about me’, ‘Space’, ‘People who help us’ and ‘Stories’. All photos and achievements are uploaded onto each child’s Seesaw account for parents to view daily.

As part of our wrap-around care sessions every Tuesday we also run a forest session. This is in a separate enclosed area on the school grounds and is accessed via the school field. These sessions are hugely popular and provide the children with amazing opportunities to boost confidence and self-esteem, encouraging physical health and development, improving social skills and developing independence and rick management.
At Bwlchgwyn Cabin Crew we recognise and place huge value in the benefits of all children spending time outdoors. During our forest sessions children will have opportunities to freely explore the forest space and fully engage with nature while experiencing all elements of weather. The children love to play and explore using mud and water, building confidence, coordination and strength using different swings, slides, tyres and rope courses. The children build connections and appreciation of living things through bird watching, feeding and lots of mini beast hunting. We encourage the children to work collaboratively and provide opportunities for them to work together and share ideas.
